I Say They Are Traitors Damn It!

A couple of days ago I noted the wingnut hilarity is building. You know, the kind we regularly see in the RDR letters to the editor. The evil liberals had shown the Rumsfeld and Cheney vacation homes in the travel section(of course the place Al Queda goes first for terrorist information). Well here is your latest update.

So they accused the NYT of deliberately endangering the security of Rumsfeld and Cheney by printing that travel article. If you wanted to debunk that accusation and had the power to have the best possible evidence magically materialize, you would wish for it turn out that the photographs were taken with the permission of Rumsfeld himself, that right-wing media outlets previously published the same information, and that the Secret Service would make clear how ludicrous the accusations are. And, lo and behold, that's exactly what materialized here. And yet the accusers, even in the face of that dream evidence, still insist that they were right all along and that this Travel article is highly suspicious are no facts which matter. Literally, virtually every political controversy we have is generated by this fact-impervious mindset, this refusal to accept that what one wishes is true is not, in fact, true.

If you would like to read more about where this idiocy comes from go here.
That any constitution, freedom loving American would back these hyperventilating hicks is bizarre on its face. It should be ignored and they should continually be put back on point when they walk off it. Such as...How do we make sure the government isn't overreaching? What does freedom mean to you? Do you believe the Constitution contains the laws we should live by? Who makes that decision? Are you in favor of our current checks and balances government? Do you have any OTHER ideas on ways to keep us safe? How many ways can you think of to protect us from terrorism besides muzzle and kill the liberals? Don't play their game. Go directly to the point, don't pass go and don't collect 200 dollars.
Look, I know we shouldn't have to give them a civics lesson. Strangely they apparently were writing notes to their friends about the high school kegger instead of paying attention to civics. " When am I ever gonna use that stuff anyway." Just consider it your contribution to the educational system.

Happy 4th Of July

Traditional Values

As we celebrate our most traditional of American values I want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July. It has always been among my favorite of holidays. It is not a somber holiday in remembrance. It is not a religious holiday that also insists on a certain amount of reverence. It's a celebration! It is pure joy for the wonderful land in which we live! My hope it that over the coming year we will not continue to diminish the freedom and liberty we so rightly celebrate. That the people will again run the country and share in the bounty of our land, not giving it away to the global corporate entities.

In our 230th year of freedom we have been asked to give it up in many areas because we face a dangerous threat. From the so called Patriot act to the secret government programs to the unitary executive we have less freedom, less constitutional government everyday. We have always faced dangerous threats! Ask registered Republican and former CIA agent Larry Johnson about our current woes. As you will see he makes a great case that that threat is not nearly as dangerous as the threats we have faced in the past. You'd never know it though from the rantings of the radical republicans and craptacular histrionics by the right wing media. They have taken a proper effort to defend ourselves in Afghanistan, an effort that had support from the vast number of the worlds people and turned it into a totally different situation. A situation where we countenance pre emptive war. A situation where we have turned much of our proper fight in Afghanistan over to UN forces and turned to INCITING war. Given a training ground and convenient target to those that want to harm us. We have inflamed religious passions within Iraq and pretty much guaranteed Iran west even if we are "successful". We have turned a major portion of the worlds people into haters of America, or at least serious doubters about our goals and ambitions. We have violated international law(what happened to the law and order people) and countenanced torture. Does a liberal amount of freedom expose us to those who would want to destroy it? Sure. Is it only up to the soldier to risk his life for freedom? Will you?

We today also face a war within our country. The "war on terror" is at everypoint now a chance to bash other Americans as being traitors or unamerican, with little talk given to the dangers we face and how to approach them. Because of this tactic it is fully apparent to all that we are now the Nonunited States. Visceral hate for other Americans drives our dialogue and political campaigns today. We all know who is driving the agenda. True, the people I side with are not totally free of nasty dialogue and hate but much is in response to the people that have been trying to turn us into the enemy instead of loyal opposition or another perspective on the problem. Now our media is being threatened as "traitorous", to the point that some are calling for jail and even death for journalists! Who will be left to defend us and inform us about an overreaching government? What is the purpose of the press if not for that? Yes, they may make mistakes occasionally as we all do..including fearless leaders. If we pride ourselves in open and transparent government THAT is what we MUST have. If we love our freedom and liberty then we must always be mindful that maintaining it is a top priority.

America faces many challenges that need to be discussed. Just what is the best way to make ourselves safe from foreign threats? Could it include security of the internal US. Ports, borders, dangerous facilities within our borders? Why is that not a big topic of conversation instead of hate America rants? Would it include importing low wage labor and exporting jobs overseas, more and more of our wealth going overseas, a place for bright inventive Americans to practice their gifts through science and technology as we move to the future? Why is it only about which Americans are intentionally harming their country? Is there a way to make health care affordable for all and not just the moneyed? Why is any action that asks for the government of we the people to help quickly dismissed as "socialism" and baaaaad? Can we bring America together again to be the great, respected nation it once was? YES!

A person trying to bring America together would embark on a national effort, a vital effort for our survival that we could all agree on. I have one.
Alternative energy. We are a dependent nation. We can't even get a pair of socks without depending on another country to provide it to us. This must end! Let's start with alternative energy. It has more pluses and is more vital than anything else we could do. A great leader would unite public and private, colleges and universitys, conservationist and producer, in a national effort to free ourselves from dependence on any other country. The process would unite the country, provide jobs and greatly accelerate our science and technology and productivity. Lets put those great American minds to work! The end result would be a pride of accomplishment and a desire to be great, in a peaceful way, again. Not a war for oil a war ON oil. Then our producers could sell their oil to the laggards into the future. It's about making their money come here instead of vis versa.
We ARE a great nation! We are ONLY because of the people that inhabit it. Let's reject the hate other Americans spewers. Let's talk about the truly important things for our country. Let's set an example for the rest of the world on how to move to a better future for all of us. I know we can do it. It will never happen if the Limbaughs, Coulters, Hannitys et al are the spokesmen. Quit bickering about nonsense and get serious! Lets go America! Make it happen!

May the blessings of liberty and freedom be in you and your families hearts and minds as we rebuild the shining beacon on the hill.

I'm A Traitor, He's A Traitor, Wouldn't Ya Like To Be A Traitor Too

From Editor and Publisher:

Also Sunday, Times' columnist Frank Rich produces a tough-talking defense. Here are a couple of excerpts:

"No sooner were the flag burners hustled offstage than a new traitor was unveiled for the Fourth: the press. Public enemy No. 1 is The New York Times, which was accused of a 'disgraceful' compromise of national security (by President Bush) and treason (by Representative Peter King of New York and the Coulter amen chorus). The Times's offense was to publish a front-page article about a comprehensive American effort to track terrorists with the aid of a Belgian consortium, Swift, which serves as a clearinghouse for some 7,800 financial institutions in 200 countries.
"It was a solid piece of journalism. But if you want to learn the truly dirty secrets of how our government prosecutes this war, the story of how it vilified The Times is more damning than anything in the article that caused the uproar...."Representative King, so eager to label others treasonous, has humiliating headlines of his own to counteract: he's the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee who has so little clout and bureaucratic aptitude that he couldn't stop the government led by his own party from stripping New York City, in his home state, of 40 percent of its counterterrorism funding. If there's another terrorist attack, he may be the last person in New York who should accuse others, as he did The Times on the House floor on Thursday, of having blood 'on their hands.' "
Such ravings make it hard not to think of the official assault on The Times and The Washington Post over the Pentagon Papers. In 1972, on the first anniversary of the publication of that classified Pentagon history of the Vietnam War, The Times's managing editor then, A. M. Rosenthal, reminisced in print about the hyperbolic predictions that had been made by the Nixon White House and its supporters: 'Codes would be broken. Military security endangered. Foreign governments would be afraid to deal with us. There would be nothing secret left.'"
None of that happened. What did happen was that Americans learned 'how secrecy had become a way of life' for a government whose clandestine policy decisions had fomented a disaster. "The assault on a free press during our own wartime should be recognized for what it is: another desperate ploy by officials trying to hide their own lethal mistakes in the shadows. It's the antithesis of everything we celebrate with the blazing lights of Independence Day."

Liberals Attempt To Kill Walmart Shoppers

Here is another example of how the liberal, America hating, Saddam loving, terrorist aiding, Al Qaeda helping , tree hugging, secular humanist, communist, socialist, Darwinist, drive by moonbats are trying to kill other Americans!

The Latest Wingnut Hilarity

Holy jokefest Batman! It's wild to watch these guys and gals that have fallen off the Titanic flail in the waters. Is it not truly apparent to all but the most sheeple of wingnuts that all this "treason" and "aid the terrorist" talk is a Rovian ploy to keep people from talking about the Administrations failed policies? To move the discuss to the "evil liberals" on a 24/7 basis? Click on this story to read The latest:

I learned today from Michelle Malkin, Powerline's John Hinderaker, Red State, and David Horowitz, among others, that The New York Times not only wants to help Al Qaeda launch terrorist attacks on the United States, but that newspaper also want to do everything possible to enable The Terrorists to assassinate Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld. That is the conclusion which these sober leaders of "conservative" punditry drew after reading this article in the Times' Travel section, which features the tiny, charming village of St. Michaels on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where both Cheney and Rumsfeld have vacation homes.Darkly lurking beneath the rustic, playful tone of the NYT Travel article is a homicidal plot on the part of the reporters and editors of the Times to provide a roadmap to their Al Qaeda allies so that they find Cheney and Rumsfeld (and maybe even Mrs. Rumsfeld) and murder them.

Gee if our chemical plants and borders and ports of entry were half as guarded as Rumsfeld and Cheneys' homes maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't have near as much to worry about. How dare the NY Times print ANYTHING! All newspapers(except for Newsmax) should just cease publication until the "war on terror" is won. It's just..just...treasonous you know!

So, to recap - America is currently at war and its enemies are domestic liberals and The New York Times. This war was started by Al Gore and Jimmy Carter when they opposed the invasion of Iraq. The New York Times is allied with Al Qaeda and their latest plot against America is to provide their terrorist friends with a roadmap to the vacation homes of Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld so that they can be assassinated. That is what is being reported today by three of the largest "conservative" blogs on the Internet....

I have yet to find a person who didn't laugh out loud when I told them of this. My take is we are supposedly fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here. If enough is not being done at home to protect our homeland then we might want to rethink our strategy.

Shouldn't there be some level of irrationality which, once displayed, disqualifies someone from being taken seriously in our mainstream political dialogue? The most minimal standards in that regard would immediately rid the pro-Bush contingent of their best-selling author along with many, if not most, of their most widely-read bloggers and talk radio hosts.

That point was reached at my house a number of years ago. I have a feeling that they are fueling their fall with all this. Oh, by the way..what about that war on terror and Osama Bin Lauden..can we get back to talking about that someday?

NewsMax, one of the sources on which Malkin relied in accusing the Times of evil-doing for having published the whereabouts of Cheney and Rumsfeld's vacation homes, itself published this article more than 9 months ago, entitled "Cheneys Head to Maryland Shore"

Oops...scratch that..No one should publish! Including the USA Today!...

WASHINGTON — President Bush is taking Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to the Elvis Presley shrine at Graceland on Friday, although first the two leaders have serious matters to discuss.

Wow! They could get 2 world leaders with one shot..and a national landmark!

As one of the commenters on this article noted.

As humorous as this is on the the surface, I believe it is indicative that the War on Terror has always been a war against the left. It just becomes more openly so as time goes on.

Update:They declared war on the idea that journalists have not just the right but the obligation to hold those in power accountable for their actions. They declared war on the idea that journalists, not the government and not a political party, get to decide what appears in the press. They declared war on the idea that the public has a right to know what the government is doing in our name.
This is a profound threat to our democracy, and we underestimate it at our peril.
