Just What Are The "Facts"

It's odd to me that the more conservative you are the more you moan on about the "facts" even when the "facts" are totally contrary to what you are saying.

He's what I "predict" the "facts" will turn out to be.

Valerie Plames idenity will turn out to be top secret.
The CIA is none to happy with what happened. You see, something like this that ended up in national papers has never happened before. An occurrence like this hurts the CIA. Others see our CIA used for political purposes and will have less confidence in giving information and staying secret. How about the people that they had worked with on WDM through the front company that was exposed because of their outing of Ms. Plame? The local people, the ones we depend on for information. Whatever the legal machinations we will find that they used the CIA for political situations and harmed the agency.
The information will show how this group (basically PNAC) has used character assassination to attack all enemies of the White House and build a lie for a war that has not only not been effective in the war on terror but actually given the enemy "street cred". A waaaaaaaay dumb way to fight the "war on terror".

This CIA deal should not be a partisan thing. When politics gets this far down and people try to defend it I wonder why they hate America. ...Just my little prediction.......if America as we knew it still exists.

Update...and here ,for those interested in the "facts". Warning to those on the right, you might wish to choose to ignore the statements contained within. Or think of a reason these guys have no validity or have no grasp on the "facts". Must be consistant you know.

So now lets look at the facts. 1. White House memo says Plame ID secret. Not to be revealed. Darby Roves husband who works in the white house says he talked to a reporter about joe wilsons wife and her job.
2.Executive Order 12958 requires white house employees sign a "Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement," also known as a SF-312, promising not to reveal classified information.1 The nondisclosure agreement signed by White House officials such as Mr. Rove states: "I will never divulge classified information to anyone" who is not authorized to receive it. 3. Rove and Libby guilty, maybe more. Novak also should be charged separately. 5. They have ,according to the US CIA ,harmed Americas efforts at intelligence (note the call for an investigation) 6. Please feel free to dismiss these as you wish. Remember though, the truth shall set you free.

People Of Faith

A friend sent me this. I think it is quite worthy of conversation.

.....We learned how the very best of humanity had faced off with the very worst of humanity – each circling the other under the same summer sun. That epic struggle had elevated southern back-roads and backwaters onto the Great World Stage. And the fate of a people – along with the destiny of a nation – hung in the balance, for all to see.
In the end, we the children cheered, for the righteous did prevail. More than that, they performed one of the great miracles in human history: they transformed an apartheid America into a fledgling democracy, tender and delicate and new.
All progressives today proudly celebrate that achievement – and rightly so.......The implications for those who seek today to rescue and redeem U.S. society are sobering. But the facts are simple and profound: the last time U.S progressives captured the national debate and transformed politics – people of faith were at the CENTER of the movement, not stuck in its closet......

My prayer is that a critical mass of progressives can agree on two basic premises. Number one: any progressive approach to “faith in politics” that ignores the awful CRIMES of religiously-inspired people is dishonest, inauthentic and can never achieve emancipatory ends.
Number two: at the same time, any approach that fails to honor and embrace the POSITIVE contributions of religiously inspired people is also wrong-headed – foolishly and needlessly shutting progressives off from our own history, proud achievements and present sources of vital support.

While I don't consider myself a "Christian" or "Buddhist" or such I do believe in the tenets of their better nature. Maybe we should be looking at how we are similar rather than how we are different.

The Memo

The memo says this information isn't suppose to be shared. Guess that blows the "no problem, not undercover" thing out of the water.

A classified State Department memo that may be pivotal to the CIA leak case made clear that information identifying an agent and her role in her husband's intelligence-gathering mission was sensitive and shouldn't be shared, according to a person familiar with the document.........The memo's details are significant because they will make it harder for officials who saw the document to claim that they didn't realize the identity of the CIA officer was a sensitive matter. Patrick Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor, may also be looking at whether other crimes -- such as perjury, obstruction of justice or leaking classified information -- were committed.

Darby Rove's husband, who works in the White House ,better come up with some better spin. It is truly amazing to me that there are some out there that would defend this and sanction impeachment over lying about sex. Obviously they're not true patriots. Why do they hate our fight against WMD? Why do they want to make it easier for the terrorists?

Update here:
Executive Order 12958 governs how federal employees are awarded security clearances in order to obtain access to classified information. It was last updated by President George W. Bush on March 25, 2003, although it has existed in some form since the Truman era. The executive order applies to any entity within the executive branch that comes into possession of classified information, including the White House. It requires employees to undergo a criminal background check, obtain training on how to protect classified information, and sign a "Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement," also known as a SF-312, promising not to reveal classified information.1 The nondisclosure agreement signed by White House officials such as Mr. Rove states: "I will never divulge classified information to anyone" who is not authorized to receive it.

Noting the first story there is little doubt that this was classified information.

Time For The Revolution

Anyone with the slightest bit of vision can see that we will be, if not are, fighting over available energy. It is or will be happening soon. So what the hell you going to do about it!!!!!!!%$^ Do you want the war? We need a revolution in bringing about alternative energy in this country. We better do it now. The war is waiting. I'm not specifically advocating any one energy idea over another. Something we can make ourselves. In other words there's this.

America is becoming a dependent nation. Dependent for its goods, dependent for its fuel, dependent for its survival, on other nations. Some are very questionable nations. Not good policy. America has been strong because of it's ability to not only take care of its self but others too. No longer. We are shifting our own independence overseas. Sad

Ruling By Smears

Some have seemed confused recently on my comments on Rove/Wilson/Plame , et al. My point is attempting to make clear the lack of transparency and diversionary tactics employed by these people when challenged. Paul Krugman ( ya I know, he is an evil liberal) does a pretty good job of expressing this here:

Mr. Rove also understands, better than anyone else in American politics, the power of smear tactics. Attacks on someone who contradicts the official line don't have to be true, or even plausible, to undermine that person's effectiveness. All they have to do is get a lot of media play, and they'll create the sense that there must be something wrong with the guy.
And now we know just how far he was willing to go with these smear tactics: as part of the effort to discredit Joseph Wilson IV, Mr. Rove leaked the fact that Mr. Wilson's wife worked for the C.I.A. I don't know whether Mr. Rove can be convicted of a crime, but there's no question that he damaged national security for partisan advantage. If a Democrat had done that, Republicans would call it treason.
But what we're getting, instead, is yet another impressive demonstration that these days, truth is political.

I don't know who is guilty but someone is and there is little doubt in my mind it was done to smear him for challenging the administration. They play this game with every issue. Why would this be any different? Mr. Fitzgerald ought to get ready to find out how he is the most vile creature on the planet.

Most of all, it's about what has happened to America. How did our political system get to this point?
