Random Thoughts

I don't know if you heard but Rep. Foley is pushing for the repeal of the state gas tax. For how long I don't know. He thinks they should have a special session to do it. Is this the same Dan Foley that thought it was nearly a crime when Gov. Richardson was making noise about one earlier in the year? Talking about how much it would cost the taxpayer etc. Another question. What are we going to do about the money that goes missing from the road funds? The idea that the politicans can continue to buy us off and avoid the problem is rather disgusting to me. I much prefered Sen. Bingamans comments on New Mexicos' natural alternative fuels. Sun, wind, biomass. This is a solution. Gas prices need to remain high to get people off the dime and moving that direction. It's painful now but will pay dividends if we can use it to move people forward instead of staying stuck in the petroleum past. You know pre 9/11 thinking. Lets have no drilling, no rebates. Gas in the past, new ways to go as the plan. Unfortunately too many of our elected representitives are more interested in partisan politics and political warfare to actually think like anything approching visionary. Who's voting for these guys anyway?

I found it interesting that hannity and Colmes spent the first 20 minutes on Patrick Kennedys fiasco like it was some major deal. I didn't see the whole show but I saw nothing in the show on the outing of Rumsfield. You know war and peace and stuff like that. Nothing when compared to a drunk Kennedy. Sean...eat me.

The Liberal Media

More on why most on the left laugh at the righties "liberal media" screed.

How, for instance, the Washington Post published 13 page-one Swift Boat stories in 12 days, most of which failed to address the key fact that the Swift boat allegations -- that Kerry lied about his Vietnam War record -- were riddled with errors and compounded by the veterans' fanciful, ever-changing stories. Despite the lack of evidence to substantiate their claims, which were floated 35 years after the fact and bankrolled by partisan Republicans, the press refused, in real time, to call out the Swift Boat allegations as a dirty trick.

It's all about the lapdogs at the press and the robots on the right ready to repeat anything the rightie talkers say without a thought. Read the whole story here.

Proud Chickenhawks

Are You Scared Yet?

They eat themselves

The wingnuttia has come up with a new "flag" to be proud of. Lets take a look at their new project.

Our friends on the port side of the blogosphere have had quite a time tossing around funny little nicknames for those of us who support the war on terror and use our blogs to express our convictions about it. We've seen the names here at CQ in the comments section -- the term "chickenhawk" has appeared more than once, and others in the blogosphere have assigned us to a unit called the 101st Fighting Keyboardists.

Those of us that support the war on terror? What is a war on terror? Is that like the war on jealousy? It's a tactic not an enemy. Who wouldn't actually be against terror? ..Oh ..wait I know! Teenage girls at the latest scary movie!

Many on the left ..... spend a great deal of effort labeling people rather than providing rational arguments on policy, and even the labels they select don't provide much more than amusement.

Oh you mean like this or this or maybe this for the thin skinned and easily offended or especially this.

That's why Frank J of IMAO, Derek Brigham of Freedom Dogs, and I have decided to create -- for real -- the 101st Fighting Keyboardists and adopt the chicken hawk as our mascot. First of all, the term "fighting keyboardist" describes our efforts pretty well, and we think the pseudo-military terminology is pretty danged amusing.

Certainly not thin skinned but admittedly pretty danged amusing.

Ok moonbats, feverswamp, lets look at comments in wingnuttia land.

It doesn't even matter if you performed military service or are even in the military. I've had written "discussions" with lefty lunatics, and after I told them I'm a Naval Reservist and a Gulf War Vet who volunteered to deploy to Iraq, they wrote back I'm a chickenhawk because I wasn't able to get myself deployed. As if military members can decide where they go or when they go . . .
And of course if I did go there, I'd then be a war criminal, which we all are unless we throw out medals away and slander our comrades, like their hero John Kerry.
There's nothing that can possibly satisfy the goal-post moving, lunatic left ,except agreeing with their seething hatred of this country and everything it stands for.

Is their some big group of lefties calling troops in Iraq war criminals? I haven't even heard the Air America people suggest that. I must have missed that or else it's something they made up so it would be easier to hate liberals. As far as John Kerry goes. I guess this commenter has proved that the truth hurts. Kerry told the truth and that makes the people who want war or find it glorious uncomfortable...Goal post moving like WMD then Saddam, then baathist then deadenders, and on and on. Oh I see what you mean. We hate what people like this commenter turned America into. Real America..you know liberty, freedom, goodguys, shining beacon on the hill..we still love that America.

An actual dissenter comments :My local news is full of stories of single mother soldiers desperately trying to find someone to watch their kids while they are in Iraq, small business owners whose companies go out of business while they are in Afghanistan, etc.
And the response?

So maybe they should think about these thing before signing up--and before re-enlisting.

It's their job to die if the President said so. That's what they signed up for. Even if it turns out they died for a lie and there efforts resulted in catastrophe because of failed leadership. Just do what the Presnit says and shut up..you asked for it! Ah those brave Chickenhawks!

Another brave 101ster says: As I have stated on previous occasions, the great achilles heal of a free society at war in defence of its freedom, is its ability to maintain the support of its citizens.
Wow, maybe maintaining a war is hard cuz God caused us to find it repelling? Afterall war is hell and nobody really should be enjoying that...unless maybe you are the devil.
Maybe vast swaths of the country find thousands dead and hundreds of billions in treasure a bit of overkill(pardon the pun..not intended) for the resulting "benefits". Maybe many find this effort has very little to do with our freedom except the freedom that is being taken away from us in the name of saving it.

And so, I and my keyboard stand at the pass - the weakest point. Armed only with words and whatever wisdom I may have gained along the way, to point to the danger and urge the defenders determination. To clarify the mist of confusion and uncertainty and to defend the vision of our purpose. These are my best weapons and I stand, old and bent and nearly used up, in the critical breach.
Damn Shakesphere, what the hell are you talking about??!!

My fellow moonbats this goes on and on and on with inane pride at any cost, slogans and bullhockey. Read it all here.
Chickenhawks I hope you enjoy your new "flag" and I hope you spend more time looking at what it really turns out to stand for instead of what you dream it to be.

Today's News

The truth hurts and the apologists are cranking up again..from this weekends correspondents dinner:

DOOCY: He was playing a good sport as his body double was there. But shortly after that, the paid performer, Stephen Colbert of the Colbert Report, took the stage and did about 15 minutes and it was very uncomfortable. Personally I felt like he went over the line. Today in Lloyd Grove's column, he says that Colbert bombed badly. It was not very funny.

I guess humor is a matter of taste cuz I thought it was pretty good. Bush needs to be very uncomfortable everytime he shows his face. Then he could "feel our pain". As one of the commenters on the above post said. I remember Bush making a joke about not finding weapons of mass destruction. I didn't think that was very funny. These people are so uncomfortable with reality because it serves them poorly. Here's the video.

Marching in the wrong streets.
Hundreds of thousands of mostly Hispanic immigrants skipped work and took to the streets Monday, flexing their economic muscle in a nationwide boycott .
These people are willing to put their freedom on the line. Why don't they do it in their homeland. Do they really have the pride in Mexico and the Mexican people that they profess? They need you in Mexico to save your country! March there. It will benefit you and us far more than what you are doing.

The march they forgot to cover:
A day after the U.S. military announced that April was the deadliest month for American forces in Iraq this year, hundreds of thousands of anti-war protesters converged on Manhattan Saturday to call for an immediate withdrawal of troops from that country.
Do you find it unusual that there is little coverage of this....oh those goofy war protesters again. You know, the ones who were correct and the ones to be listening to if your decider was working correctly. By the way. Today is the anniversary of Mission Accomplished. Apparently a flight suit and codpiece does not a military genius make.

Here's another story about our biggest problem. At least if the Constitution is a vital part of America for you.
WASHINGTON -- President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.
What can I say that hasn't already been said. This is flat out, blatant powermongering. No one should have the power he claims. Especially someone who has proved to be a very poor decider. This cabal is destroying this country and the so called "patriots" who support him are laughable for even thinking what they are doing is remotely close to patriotic. It will be a sad day for America if he is not stopped. Thank You Russ Feingold for making the attempt.

Sean Hannity loves to say that Clinton turned down Bin Laden. Of course the story is far more complicated but that is all Seans' fans can or want to cram in their reactionary brains. Now we find that Bush could have had Al Zarqawi. Turned it down Sean...flat turned it down.
A former top CIA spy says the United States deliberately turned down several opportunities to kill terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in the lead-up to the Iraq war....... He has told the ABC's Four Corners program the Bush administration had Zarqawi in its sights almost every day for a year. "The reasons the intelligence service got for not shooting Zarqawi was simply that the President and the National Security Council decided it was more important not to give the Europeans the impression we were gunslingers," he said.
Opps, bad decider. The actions taken made us out as gunslingers anyway. I'm sure wingnuttia will defile and defame this guy for messing up their illusions. That and/or find some apologist wackitatia to reinforce the "rightness" of George and wrongness of Bill.

Well more proof of a defective decider. Colin Powell urged more troops. As a matter of fact I think the Powell Doctrine supports overwhelming force.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell urged President Bush before the Iraq war to send more troops to the country, but the administration did not follow his recommendation.
They decided not to take the advice of someone who had actually won a war. ... Bad decision to go in, bdecisionson on combat, bad decision on aftermath. Decider needs new batteries. More here.

Wingnuttia continues to insist that Ms. Wilson(Plame) was not undercover. Those with the ability to read the facts know better. Those with the ability to read also know that she was working Iran'sans weapons of mass destruction program.
On Chris Matthews' Hardball Monday evening...MSNBC correspondent David Shuster confirmed what RAW STORY first reported in February: that outed CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson was working on Iran at the time she was outed.
RAW STORY's Larisa Alexandrovna broke the story earlier this year, which went unnoticed by the mainstream media.
Geez every thing this cabal touches turns to S*it. It's almost like they are jinxed. Or they are just horrible deciders. Their idea of Gods way seems to be frought with pitfalls.

There goes our money for rebuilding the Gulf Coast.
A US congressional inspection team set up to monitor reconstruction in Iraq today publishes a scathing report of failures by contractors, mainly from the US, to carry out projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
In one case, the inspection team found that three years after the invasion only six of 150 health centres proposed for Iraq had been completed by a US contractor, in spite of 75% of the $186m (£100m) allocated having been spent.

Why are we trying to rebuild a country that is in the midst of a civil war? Lets save America first.

Will he be "saved by zero"?

Rush settlement
Before his own problems became public, Limbaugh had decried drug use and abuse, often making the case that drug crimes deserve punishment.
The apologist argumentment is that he was under intense pain. Perhaps those "street" people he wants to see go to jail are in intense pain of another kind. Face it, he's a hypocriticalital drug addict, among other things.

A couple of notes. Seems no one, including wingnuttia is to thrilled with the Republican 100 dollar rebate idea as a solution to the gas crisis. They will keep pushing for more drilling. Hopefully the opposition will stand up for a fullthroated drive toward alternatives and conservation. Oil..it's so 20th century and the people that push it have a seriously pre 9/11 mindset. Mad yet?
