The "Liberal" Media Back To It's Old Ways

I have been watching the coverage today on all the cable "liberal" media. We seem to now be getting the mantra that we will have plenty of time to place blame later and now our focus should be on saving those who need to be saved.
Certainly a focus needs to be put on that and it is. Finally, by the government and agencies and by relief groups and by individual Americans. This is a very positive and NOBLE development.

But wait, I thought America was a country that could focus on more than one thing at once. The right told us so and now they seem to think something different. I don't care what kind of pressure I get to SHUT UP, I will not. America is crumbling at the hand of incompetent fools. I will go down FIGHTING!
It's becoming more clear everyday who REALLY loves America, which in the long and short run is the people in it. Who believes in the American spirit and the people who think this is the best we can do. They are pathetic and I have no time for debate anymore. If you want to rekindle what America was and is under the surface I am with you. If not you are my most serious enemy at this point. Call it a civil war, call it what you want, my anger has been building for sometime now with all this incompetence and this is the last straw. NO SURRENDER! As I said earlier it is pitchforks and torches time!
Yes the focus should be on the rescue, then it will be on sheltering them, then it will be finding them semi permanant homes, then it will be on rebuilding the city, then it will be on blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile America continues to crumble.
It's wonderful to see the heroic Americans and volunteers who show the REAL AMERICA sitting just below the surface. Let's turn that into the face of America for its citizens and the world to see and not what is bubbling below the surface of our bullying ,sick leadership.

PS-While writing this I heard Newt Gingrich, of all people, say a full piece about how America is better than this and we need to get up and show the real American spirit. I agree with about everything he just said. I'm with Newt on this and don't care which party they come from, if you want to fix America I am with you. Go get'em Newt!

Update: Just spreading the word

we definately need to find out how to make our hurricane relief planning better...it would be nice to not have people imply that Bush hates blacks...and that is why things were slow.

Stop putting words in peoples' mouths. Nobody except some idiot on a telethon implied Bush hates blacks. It's the Republican way. Make the issue what the liberals supposedly said, but didn't.

The implication is that he cares less about the poor people of America than he does about a propaganda event in San Diego. The implication is that he continues to appoint incompetents. The implication is that although he claims to be a strong, decisive leader, he hesitates to lead, be it 7 minutes or 3 days.

Game, you are making progress. There are lots of things we need to make better if we are going to have that shining beacon on the hill. As you may have noted I did some posts on how the Democrats are spineless. I got lots of flack for that too. Time for the pitchforks and torches! People "asked" the "black" question which I think is reasonable cuz some are probably thinking it. Most americans, liberal and conservative don't give it much creetence though. It's a divert and divide by the talking heads.

Ron, I'm with you...anything that was done wrong must be delt with...but if it looks like the dems are just going out and making crazy claims...I'll shut it off right away...

I know I must sound like I just stick up for Bush no matter what...but I really don't. If he could have done things to help before hand, then he should be told so...I just keep trying to point out that being a monday morning quarterback doesn't help anything...lets just see how we can make it better for the next time.

when the race card comes out...I know not by all, but enough has been said on TV to make it stick...I stop listening and want to puke.

Game, I don't think it was monday morning quarterbacking when we knew and were urged to do so much ahead of time and we knew the hurricane was coming. I'm not up for playing the race card anymore than you are and I don't believe it was race. I think they didn't feel the same sense of urgency for the poor as they would have for the rich. Call it the poor card if you wish.

It would have taken 20 years to fix the levee system in NOLA. Even if Bush from day one of his presidency had started the project to fix the levees it would'nt have helped. If Bush hadn't have stolen the election TWICE Kerry or Gore would have gotten the levees fixed in record time to protect an american black city because they obviously love blacks more than republicans. Not to mention Chenney's weather machine would never had the opportunity to do what it has done.
I think conyers and shelia jackson lee need to have a fake committeee hearing in the basement of the House to look into the weather machine, and give us an update on how the downing street memo is going. Chenny used his weather machine in order to steer the media away from important stories like the downing street memo, plamegate, sheehan and viet nam oops I mean Iraq. Impeach the weather Machine!

Christ Mark! What is it with you guys and your obsession with the black thing!!!!! !!!~!~!! !!!!!! !@$#!~ It's barely mentioned on tv. Nobody is talking about it on liberal blogs. And I haven't seen any push in newspapers. I know this cuz I spent all day yesterday reading and watching the news coverage(i know its a sorry life)It's a right wing talking point ment to divide America. Thats what it is!!!!!!&%This is what your wonderful party leaders do best DIVIDE AMERICA! Shit is this some big thing on townhall or what!If the liberals are so obsessed with it PROVE IT! Otherwise shut up and stay on topic.
The fact that money is being diverted from Americas infrastructure while we spend 186 billion dollar a day with Bushs' folly is the point. The other point is while the government fiddled people died. If this response was, in your opinion the best we can do then you aren't a very proud american. You are just squawking right wing talking points like a good little solider. You should be ashamed of your countrys reaction to this and be insisting on better but I guess the iraqi people are more important to you than americans! You guys make me SICK!!!!!!!!!%$#@

Ok, here's the real deal folks, and I don't care what you say or do to me for telling the frikkin' TRUTH on this.

See, any government here, right now, would have done the same thing. Let's compare it to a local scale, shall we?

The cops in both Roswell and Clovis are real good at doing the same thing: WAIT UNTIL THE MESS IS OVER WITH, THEN GO IN. PREVENTION???? WHAT'S THAT???? IT'S ONLY WHAT WE PAY TAXES FOR.

And, we're being RIPPED OFF on those taxes. NO ONE'S life is safe. Anywhere. Just for the reason I posted above.

if you get a chance to see the interview call in show with Lt. Gen Carl Strock Commander of the Army corps of engineers on CSPAN you will not hace such a bleak opinion of the disaster response. He keeps pointing out that the levees in New orleans were prepared for a category 3 the statisticall chance of a CAT 4 or 5 hitting NO and destroying the levees was determined to be at .5 percent. The city was 99.5 percent prepared for whatever Hurricane might hit, when the mayor and FEMA ordered a mandatory evacuation of the city they did the exact right thing. the use of the superdome for those who could not leave while disgusting in fact saved many lives. I'm not sure what Bush could have done to act quicker the National Guard cannot deploy over night, and what if they had been in NO before the levve breach they would be a stranded as any one else. I just don't understand why we have to blame anyone it was freaking natural disaster it would'nt matter if carrot-top was president the federal government can only do so much and for you opn the left to sit around and harp on mistakes shows that you truly just hate bush and want to blame him for anything that goes wrong no matter what it is its really quite silly. If bush had toured the devistation immediately you would critisize him for exploitin g a tragedy, since he waited a day or two people criticize him for not going sooner he's damned if does and damned if he does'nt. As far as the race thing I was read at least two articles over the weekend questioning whether or not race was an issue in response one was in the Atlata consitution and J Air america has talked about too. ANd trust me the usual suspects are just waiting in the wings to use the race issue to further their victim-hood industry (sharpton, jackson et al.) I wish race was not brought up either but I'm will not sit back and let ANYONE make the absurd accusation that the response was slowed because it was a black crisis that is just stupid. Chenney's weather machine should be unleashed on martha's vinyard that way the response effort will be perfect.

Bush SUcks he cant do anything right our contry is falling apart the sky is falling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Race An Issue In Katrina Response
WASHINGTON, Sept. 3, 2005

The human suffering from Hurricane Katrina and the images of mostly black hurricane victims and looters have provoked new debates about tough public policy decisions, the nation's troubled racial history and the racial and economic barriers that still separate Americans.

CBS Radio News reports that New Orleans City Councilman Oliver Thomas said people are too afraid of black people to go in and save them. He added that rumors of shootings and riots are making people afraid to take in people who are being portrayed as thugs and thieves.

"If we were lucky, we would have died," Thomas was told by a woman still waiting to find shelter, reports CBS Radio News.

Black members of Congress expressed anger Friday at what they said was a slow federal response to Hurricane Katrina.

"It looks dysfunctional to me right now," said Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif.

She and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, along with members of the Black Leadership Forum, National Urban League and the NAACP, held a news conference and charged that the response was slow because those most affected are poor.

Many also are black, but the lawmakers held off on charging racism.

"The issue is not about race right now," said Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio. "There will be another time to have issues about color."

Watson and others also took issue with the word "refugee" being used to describe hurricane victims.

"'Refugee' calls up to mind people that come from different lands and have to be taken care of. These are American citizens," Watson said.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the most prominent black person in the Bush administration, downplayed the criticism.

"That Americans would somehow in a color-affected way decide who to help and who not to help, I, I just don't believe it," she said. "The African-American community has obviously been very heavily affected. But people are doing what they can for Americans. Nobody wants to see any American suffer."

In conversations at restaurants, homes, offices, on talk radio and online, it's clear that many blacks and whites view the effects of Katrina differently.

Although no group is monolithic in opinion or emotion, many blacks are outraged that so many of their own were left behind in New Orleans with no evacuation plan and no urgent effort to rescue them.

"Black people are mad because they feel the reason for the slow response is because those people are black and they didn't support George Bush," said Ron Walters, a professor of government and politics at the University of Maryland. "And I don't expect that feeling to go away anytime soon."

No one questions that whites have been moved by the suffering of blacks, and vice versa. But amid images of black looters, some sympathy threatens to give way to anger and disdain.

The hurricane's racial conflict took on political overtones Friday, as black leaders blasted the Bush administration's slow response and asked whether race played a part.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson charged that race was "at least a factor" in the slow response.

"We have an amazing tolerance for black pain," he told CNN on Friday. He questioned why the U.S. military couldn't house many of the homeless on unused military airbases, adding that more people will die of starvation and dehydration than from drowning.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D- Md., stopped short of that, saying that it was the frail, the weak and the sick who were left in need. But in an interview on CNN, Cummings said, "I'm not sure" if racism was partly responsible for the problems.

"All I know is that a number of the faces that I saw were African-American," he said.

hmmmmmmm no body is saying it all right not a single person

Mark, go get a life. You KNOW that the libs have been very much less guilty of this than the neocons.

The proof's in the pudding... the conservatives had to make a big deal out of MONICA LEWINSKY while Clinton was reaping in (that's, uh, NOT out to anywhere else) a 3 trill surplus in the federal budget.

Yeah, you neocon bastards don't give a rat's ass about the people. All you give a rat's ass about is what little your shallow brains can comprehend (which sure in the hell ain't much).

For Mark and eveyone.

Let's make this NON political. Just say that under A nameless PRESIDENT these things have happened:

The rich have gotten richer 4 years in a row, and the poor have gotten poorer 4 years in a row.

Our leaders were warned dozens of times by our own and foreign governments that bin Laden was up to something. The president and his national security advisor got a PDB on August 6 TITLED "Bin Laden determined to strike inside U.S." Yet the president, who, as a former fighter pilot, should have been more aware than any other president that PERHAPS it would be a good idea to put up interceptors 24/7, and to step up efforts against terrorism, for instance, did nothing. His NSA had gotten an URGENT memo from the terrorism czar on Jan. 25, 2001 saying they URGENTLY needed to have a meeting on al Qaeda, yet no meeting was held until about 4 days before the attack.

Gasoline has pretty much tripled in price.

Airline workers have gotten royally screwed, as have many other workers -- real wages have gone DOWN for working people.

Intelligence was "sexed up" and fear tactics were used to frighten the people into going along with the idea of invading a country which had done nothing to us, and whose leader we had initially put in power and then kept in power even AFTER he gassed the Kurds -- we did not care about that then. In fact Rumsfeld went to Baghdad to tell him just that.

The Super Fund has dried up. Any cleanups of toxic sites made by corporations will be paid for by the taxpayers IF they are done at all.

The military is on the verge of being destroyed because noone who signs up for the reserves or guard EXPECTS to spend multiple tours of duty in a country we did not need to go to war with. A country that did not threaten our security. And now not nearly enough people are signing up because they do not TRUST our leaders to only fight NECESSARY wars. The military has had to up its enlistment and retention bonuses, which will ultimately cost us taxpayers a bunch of money. The cost of care for veterans when they come home will be astronomical.

The list goes on and on.

Environmental protections have been rolled back.

The president KNEW the hurricane was coming, and played guitar and played golf. Then when he was there, days after the fact. he talked about how he used to "party" there.

Before Hurricane Floyd happened, Clinton cut a trip he was on a day short and went back to Washington so he could better able oversee what was going on. And you can bet your boots he was on top of everything. He always was. He wanted to know everything about everything.

This president made a special trip to Washington in his pajamas to prolong the life of Terri Schiavo, but could not come to Washington to oversee disaster preparedness for Katrina.

What has he done right?? I would really like someone to tell me in what way the average person's life has gotten better in the last 4 years.

How can anyone keep defending him?? All this president has focuesed on is seeing to it that the rich get richer. His tax cuts save him, personally a minimum of $90,000 a year. Saving money for himself and his class and making money for his campaign contributors -- Halliburton, Bechtel, his father's Carlyle Group, and now Condi's Chevron profits are up 294%-- are ALL he is about!! Off camera he said to Diane Sawyer he did not think Katrina should interfere with tax cuts. GOD!!!

These are all FACTS!!

How can anyone defend a president who did all this?? And has lied about everything he has done??

A Gulf War veteran spoke yesterday. He said a commander is supposed to look out for everyone under him. How has this president done that? How has he helped anyone but the very rich??

The entire world hates him and despises him. They thought we surely would elect Kerry simply because he was not Bush. In fact in Czechloslovakia they were SO SURE we would not elect someone they saw as such a failure and ASSUMED the American people could not help but see as a failure, they actually made dolls of Kerry as the next president. He is included in a set of nested dolls of the American presidents over there.
