They Stole My Country

Dumbya

I am mad as hell!! This is no longer the bright ,inventive, capable country that I once lived in. Actually it is but the wrong people are in charge. Mostly on both sides. Damn it we had at least 36 hours to prepare for what everyone was warning was going to be huge. We knew this ahead of time so don't even try the 20/20 hindsight bullshit with me you sickening apologists. Don't even try to defend the leader in incompetence. Call it playing politics if you want. I don't care. I am throughly fed up. Our entire government was on vacation. Any body who supports these idiots at this point has to be in need of therapy. I've been listening to the apologists on the right. Anal butt cyst Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity etc. and I just don't understand why they hate Americans so much!! I just would like to meet them on the street and have a good old fashioned fistfight with these guys. I am a calm, passive non violent person by nature. This is the last straw. I am losing my mind listening to the asshole apologists. So Game and Joe etc. Best just keep your apologist mouths shut on this one. People...American people...OUR people have died purely because these bumbling fools are grossly incompetent. How much ingenuity does it take to load an airplane with some sandwiches and water and milk and drop it near a convention center or the superdome? They could do it in Afganistan thousands of miles away. They can spend 186 million dollars a day "careing" for the Iraqi people. Why do they hate Americans!? To listen to Haley Barbour say..hey what do you want me to to, I told people to leave. Like everybody had the ablility to do that. Freakin Idiot! These people can't even get close to grasping what it's like to be poor. Oh ya, they are only poor cuz they are lazy right? God I hate these people! It's time for the revolution. It's pitchforks and torches time. This country won't survive another three years of non leadership. If you can abide by this last 5 years of disaster you aren't worthy to call yourself an American in my book. Since 60 percent of the public agrees maybe the apologists should be the ones to leave if they don't like what we are saying!!!!!! Screw you guys. You stole my country.

Mad as hell or not, be careful in naming names here, Ron.

It's my hunch that Joe right now is sitting smack in the middle of the muck down there... and it's my feeling that he's doing his job and helping immensely.

Even in anger, even in a rant, even when you don't care, please try to be as diplomatic as possible, ok? You might hurt the wrong person.

Ron, would you please post the story in its entirety (Dumbya) here? I can't get to it, and don't really feel that I should be registered just to read the Chicago News-Tribune online...

Thanks.

Ron,
Listened to the show today. Way to go ALPHA!!! Yes!!! This is the Ron Stevens the fans all know and love. When you started playing Devil's Advocate to the Dems/Libs, I started to be afraid that you were being lured over to "the dark side". Am so glad this isn't the case because we really need you on OUR side.
Have gotten some feedback from my friends to the effect that I should lighten up on you and spent some sleepless hours thinking about this. Yes, it's true and I've been mean and gone too far regardless of my intentions to defend Linda and my fellow Democrats and Liberals. I was wrong and I apologize for my bad behavior.
Anyway, loved the show today. You were so right on, but, then you usually are. One of my friends says that you have more smarts in your little finger than JD has in his entire body. I have to agree with her. The various "characters", esp. Linda and Maniac (didja know he is now being asked for his autograph)really do add to the show, but I think the main thing is you and how much work you put into researching. You know your stuff which is more than can be said for a lot of the so called "Liberal Media". I just wish you had more creative control and your boss would let you alone because we are afraid he will "kill" the show or God forbid turn it into a clone of The Dennis Prager Show.
Your caller today that said that we need to have a protest on Sept. 24. She is so right. She has her own ways of political activism w/ her truck (book on wheels), calling your show, letters to the editor, etc. and she is trying to ENLIGHTEN the populace. Maniac tries to get people fired up and MOTIVATED TO ACT. I write letters, but, also, have made it a point to wear peace signs and things to identify myself as a Democrat, the point of which is partly to protest the war, partly to get in the faces of the brainwashed Bushies, and partly to motivate my fellow Liberals and Democrats to stop being afraid and ashamed of their political beliefs. The climate of political oppression here is unbelievable. I have worn peace signs when I have been out of state or elsewhere in NM and not gotten the hostile looks I get here. (It is a lot easier not to wear them and blend in with the Bushies.)
The point of all of this, is that this administration is totally corrupt and incompetent. But what do you expect when they can't look any farther than their next quarterly financial report/profit margins? They have no real vision for this country other than to get total economic, political, and religious dominance over the rest of the world. But if you say anything you get branded a traitor, and that goes for our Democratic Senators/Reps. and whatever decent Republicans there are. Plus they don't dare to look like they're not Pro-Israel. The administration has sold its soul to Karl Rove and "the men in the shadows" (corporate globalists). We gotta get rid of the EVIL Rove first and as I've said before It's time "the Hammer" was sent to the slammer. Then we'll get Bush/Cheney impeached-sort of like with Watergate when the lesser people went down, Agnew had to resign, and then we finally got rid of Tricky Dicky. 'Course when your caller blamed the media, well, of course she was right there, too. The "Liberal Media" owned by the conservative corporations that are running this country into the ground has been protecting Bush and his cronies all along, for the most part. But there has been enough info out there, that the American people are much to blame, too. Too many are gullible, brainwashed, complacent, narrow minded, and more interested in watching "Survivor" or the missing girl from Aruba story on Fox Cartoon News than learning the TRUTH about what is going on in this country and the world. They are more interested in gassing up their status symbol SUVs, pickup trucks, and Humvees than protecting the environment and speaking out against the destruction of another country and the suffering of its people. It is far past time that the majority of the American people got mad as H*ll and put a stop to what PNAC and their good buddies are doing and I am thrilled that you said what you said on the show today, Ron. Keep up the GREAT work!!!---DemoCat

It took a few days before people realized that New Orleans was going to be flooded...most stories the next day were about how lucky New Orleans was for missing the big one...that is part of the reason rescue efforts are late...

Then the fact that there is a sub-culutre of thugs and savages that are shooting at rescue workers and helicopters doesn't help the effort. atleast 1500 rescue workers had to stop heling people in need to try and stop the thugs from raping and murdering innnocent people...

But of course it is because GWB hates black people...he hates Condi Rice....

I can see the left taking this position right now...keep preaching it, have Cindy scream it from her bus...maybe the republicans can have 70 senate seats before the left is done being insane.

Game,

If it took a few days to realize that New Orleans was going to be flooded (even though this disaster has been predicted at LEAST since 2001) then why did they tell everybody to leave?

The reason the help is late is that there was no plan. We have billions invested in weather prediction, and we knew this storm was coming, and we knew it was going to be a category 4 or 5. Obviously, no plans or actions were taken prior to the flooding. The head of Homeland Security and the head of FEMA had to be told what the conditions were in New Orleans by the media. They had no clue as to what if any contingency plans were in existance prior to the disaster and didn't even know what was going on after. They only knew what the media was telling them.

How come the media could have "boots on the ground", but the Dept. of Homeland Security could not? Maybe because the media actually monitors the weather reports and knew what was coming? The media had people on the ground before, during, and after the storm. Where were the government boots?

It's terrible that some people are looting for financial gain. It's terrible that people are shooting. One percent of a hundred thousand people is a thousand people. (guessing numbers here) so I believe 99% of the people are just trying to survive.

Choppers can't come in because they're being shot at? They can land and deploy troops and equipment in Iraq under fire, but they can't do it in New Orleans? Ask the pilots if they were willing to go in.

The incompetence of nearly everyone in this adminstration with any responsiblity is MIND BOGGLING.

Don't get me started on Condi Rice. Her color has nothing to do with anything. Nothing! The only time you evey hear about her color is from the administration apologists who attempt to paint as racist anybody who would criticize her.

Condi Rice, at least prior to becoming Secretary of State, is probably THE most incompetent person in the Bush Administration. She will surely go down in history as the most incompetent National Security Advisor in US history. Feel free to refute this opinion if you like. I'd love to debate it.

OK, rant over. Thank you.

Now all the news networks are trying to find anyone to say how terrible it is the Bush hates blacks...that is terrible...

the response might be terrible as well, but anyone who is going to say the government responded poorly ON PURPOSE because most of the people are black is a complete piece of shit.

DC-No apology needed, just understand that we both essentially want the same thing but have different ways of getting there. I'm glad you liked the show. Its not one I could or would want to do every day but this stuff is untenable and just an example of whats happening in Iraq right here at home. It's happened everytime these idiots do anything. Total incompetence.

Game, where the hell did you get the race thing from what ANYBODY has said here. See, you were listening to the apologists and they convinced you there was a cult of left wingers out to do this or that. No evidence of it on this blog..here in REAL AMERICA.I'm telling you you are brainwashed by the evil dividers of this country. On Sept. 24th there are going to be anti-war protests across the county. I intend for there to be a Protest/Impeach rally in this city if I have to do it all by myself!

Roswell never does anything along this line. And it is time we stood up and were counted! We may not get the incompetent ba--ards impeached, but we can sure as hell let them know we are mad, and let the Republicans know we are mad as well!

It is time to stop being meek and apologetic for not "supporting our president." Anyone who still supports this president is blissfully stupid, willfully ignorant or totally delusional. What they definitely are NOT is patriots.

The patriotic thing to do is to demand that this neanderthal who Nelson Mandela rightly said was a man of "little foresight" who "does not think properly," not be allowed to be in a position to damage our country and the world any more than he already has!!

He does not now, nor has he ever deserved our support.

He is the most destructively incompetent president in the history of the U.S., and we need to stop being "okay" with it.

I am putting my Congress people and anyone who might opt to run for office on notice that my vote in 2006 and 2008 will be determined almost entirely on how stongly he or she supported this embarrassment of a president and his greed driven policies.

It is time to demand no more tax cuts!! There are worse things in the world than paying taxes. IF the president and Congress had not been concentrating on what programs to cut so they could pocket their own individual $90,000 a year or so tax cuts, perhaps New Orleans would not be in the mess it is now.

I have said all along this is the most dishonest, deceitful, immoral, unchristian, and probably worst of all, staggeringly incompetent administration in my lifetime.

Bill Clinton would personally have been in charge of everything. Things would have gotten done if he were still president. He was always on top of everything. He cut a trip short by a day and came home when he knew Hurricane Floyd was on the way, and Floyd was nothing like THEY KNEW this one was likely to be.

Bush said being president was "hard work." He obviously cannot handle that, and so should resign.

I saw on a blog today, someone said that we should all donate $5 toward his resignation. Since money obviously means everything to him, if we all donated $5, that would be 1 billion, 300 million dollars, and he might take that to resign. It would be cheap at 10 times the price!! The damage his administration has done this country and its people, not to mention the people of the world is incalculable.

Of course I would rather he went to prison. In 2006 we must elect a Democratic Congress so this entire bunch can be impeached.

RE Condi Rice. She IS, indeed the sorriest excuse for a National Security Advisor we have ever had. She ignored the January 2001 memo from Richard Clarke saying they URGENTLY needed to hold a principals level meeting on Al Qaeda. She ignored the Aug 6th PDB and all the other warnings received that summer.

PLEASE!! The only qualifications necessary to serve in Bush's administration are that you must have absolutely no experience in whatever field you are chosen to head, AND you must have raised a ton of money for Bush. Other than that, you can be totally incompetent or corrupt. In fact, it is almost mandatory that you be one or the other if not both!

Sept. 24th!! ALL DAY LONG in shifts. Maybe a main protest at like 5:30 when most people are off work.

We just killed another 56 people in Iraq looking for a terrorist. But, with N.O., it did not get much coverage.

Dedanna, I could not agree with you more in your choice of terms. Bastards does not begin to describe the unholy bunch in power now!! We have to come up with a whole new generation of words to describe these people. ARE they people?? None that we use on the usual miscreants suffices for their greed and ineptitude!

The government exists to help those who cannot help themselves. All this government does is enable its officials or former officials to play musical chairs about access to taxpayer money! And, I am not sure, but I think Halliburton (KBR) has offshore headquarters, so pays very little in taxes back!!

I am going to CALL my congress people Tuesday morning and give them all hell!

I do not want to hear one more word from them about ending the estate tax!! IF Bush and congress had not been so obsessed with cutting taxes -- so busy pocketing their personal $90,000 or so tax cuts, perhaps the tragedy of New Orleans would not have happened!!

Under Eisenhower the richest among us were taxed at 90% and corporations at 52%, and against Republican pressure, Ike refused to support lowering those rates. And that was during peace time!! AND, if I remember correctly, we were supposed to be most prosperous as a nation under Ike.

I may have written this before. But I am also going to tell my Congress people that my vote in 2006 and 2008 will depend almost entirely on how strongly they supported this worst of all presidents and his destructive to the people agenda!!

The thing that pisses me off, is they have the gall to even allow Halliburton to go in for this, after everything that's happened with the war.

Halliburton's stocks have gone up tremendously, so they're benefitting from that, they're also benefitting from the jobs they have now in the New Orleans/Mississippi area.

There's much, much, more on this, but it's too long and deep to get into here. Maybe I'll drop a few things as time goes on.

For now, I'm too dumbstruck at the tactlessness of this administration in even considering Halliburton for anything further than the war.

The more I read about all this, the more sick at heart I get.

Why does this Game person think this has anything to do with
Condi Rice? I don't think that President Bush has anything against minorities, personally. But, a lot of his supporters do, especially in the South. As Black voters are now primarily Democrats, many of the Southern white voters have become Republicans to offset anything the Blacks might want to accomplish to improve their circumstances. This is also true of white supremecists, in general, and they are all over the country-even locally. Besides that, the South is the Bible Belt with the Baptist and other fundamentalist churches being in the majority. Most, but not all (esp. Black) of these churches support right wing Republicans, and as long as you're pro-life and anti-gay you can do no wrong in their book.
I don't think that Bush is a bigot. I think he's equal opportunity as far as race/ethnicity goes, but he hasn't done anything that I can see to help minorities. He only seems to care about helping the rich who he feels are entitled to 90% of the pie. Even if he did want to do the right thing, would Dick Cheney allow it? I think not.

Dedanna, You are walking right in to their trap. They want to find something that can divide americans and they can blame the "liberals" on. don't play their game of misdirection. They will go off on a thousand tangents to get you off the real issue. Which is AMERICANS died and many of them died because of the incompentence of our leaders. I truly don't believe that race had anything to do with it. I think it likely had far more to do with the fact that they were all or overwhelmingly poor people. They are the ones who were left to fend for themselves. This administration demonstratively could care less about the poor and poverty has been rising in our country. I aint playing their game this time and you shouldn't either. Just remember how they stole the upper hand in the past and dont let them do it this time. We are at a point where it is far too important if we are to save our country.

I have to agree with the "Bush is not a bigot against blacks." comment. I mean give the guy credit for the few character flaws he doesn't have!!

His bigotry is against the POOR. No matter what color they are. He would have saved the houses of the rich no matter what color their owners happen to be.

His professor said he thought the poor were lazy.

Molly Ivins said he was not "mean." I don't know that I can believe that any longer. He destroys anyone who tells the truth about him. He simply has no grounding in reality because SOMEONE has always cleaned up his messes for him. He has never really faced consequences. I think he really convinces himself that consequences don't happen for other people, either. He said there would be "no casualties" in Iraq. I think he just absolutely refuses to believe unpleasant realities.

I am glad that Ron and Lonna agree about the Bush ADMINISTRATION being anti-poor rather than anti-minorities. It is strange the way that they think so much like the aristocratic classes of earlier centuries who had such a great sense of entitlement. The latter felt no guilt about going into and colonizing other nations around the world, exploiting the people and their resources, enslaving them, even robbing their grave sites which is what happened when the mummies, etc. were taken out of Egypt to British museums.
The Bush family isn't aristocratic at all. They are the newly rich, having made all their money in the last century. One would think that as they are not that far removed from the common people they would have more empathy for the poor.
I watched President Bush on "Dateline" when he was in Mississippi and saw him talking to someone and smiling. Even when he was serious, I could not see that he looked like he was in shock, that he had been unable to sleep, or that he had wept over this situation at all. Where is his human feeling? Where is this compassion he claims to have? Presidents Clinton and Carter would have shown true grief over this situation. Even Ronald Reagan would have demonstrated more emotion than Bush. I am appalled that President Bush has never gone on television following one of the incidents in Iraq where even the liberal media has reported that children have been killed during U.S. bombings and expressed sorrow. I want a leader who is strong enough to show his emotions not a macho man who can only say what his underlings tell him to say.
And no, Dedanna, Bush is probably not a bigot, but he is not a true leader, either, because a true leader would care for all of his people and not just the elite.

Bush is being a bigot even by discriminating against the poor as he does, and for not only not showing any real grief for them, but also by trying to get his homeboys to reap in the benefits from Halliburton on such a horrible event, right here on U.S. soil.

I'm still in shock that the administration would even allow Halliburton to touch the mess for any reason whatsoever.

They need to be shot for being so undiplomatic, unsensitive, uncaring, and tactless.

I agree with Dedanna about Halliburton, etc. Naturally, our vice-president, Dick Cheney, was CEO of Halliburton and the profits of the latter have skyrocketed since Sept. 11, 2001. The greed, corruption, and self-interest of the people who are running our nation or dictating governmental policy is appalling. This refers primarily to the Bush Administration, Tom Delay,
Karl Rove,corporations/lobbyists, the conservatve owned media, and the party who currently represents the majority in Congress (i.e. the GOP).
Perhaps it would be better to say that Bush is not a racist, but he is a bigot because he is prejudiced and lacks empathy for anyone who does not think the way he does or does not possess great wealth. Bush is bigoted toward the poor, and unfortunately minorities make up a large segment of the poverty stricken population of this country.
