Impeachment?

The Zogby poll says impeachment is more of a possibility than one might imagine. We need a Democratic house of course to get it started but it may have more support than most think. Look here. This poll was taken after the Presidents' speech. In the other poll also after the speech the Presidents' approval rating went from 43% to 42%. This is what happens to the guy who is a "strong" leader who won't listen to anybody or change his mind in the face of new situations. I never understood the "strong leader" thing anyway. Fewer people in the world and the U.S. are following than anytime in modern history. That sounds like a failure of leadership to me. On a grand scale.

Hello Ron;

The Donkey is sorry to tell you the quote you gave credited to Julius Ceasar is a Hoax. Remember just because it is on the net does not make it so. False quotes and urban legends are spreading fast due to the internet.

Did not get to call in so I will put these comments here as there is no recent coffee table. Why do people believe in ideas which impoverish and enslave them? It has to do largely with their education (formal, informal and otherwise). To the extent that their education, environment and culture instill the values of thinking, kindness, respect and tolerence they progress toward the positive actions in life for themselves and others. To the extent that the values instilled are obedience, domination, disrespect and sameness they regress toward the negative actions in life for themselves and others. This is true regardless of time, place, race, nation, system, etc. Of course, physical force is often a cause, but so are those psychological forces of a culture and its institutions. Rather than dealing with truth and justice, social and legal forces can, intimidate and ridicule towards sameness. Likewise, economic forces can make work into wage slavery and create a social darwinist society. Religion of course plays a major role. It can make people guilt-ridden and subservient to social darwinisn. And together they project the Image that this is the way things are naturally, and enforce that this must be. Mix in amounts of greed and fear to solidify. This is why people are impoverished and enslaved in an evil system. They have to change of their own accord, you can not force them to. Don't waste your time and energy on trying to change them. Life is short. So use your time and energy that you are given to create things with those of a common mind. Evil and unjust systems anywhere the world will not be changed by its adherents waving flags, pledging alligencies and doing religious ceremonines. And God does not bless any person, group, nation or system that does and believes so.

FYI: The Zogby poll itself can be found here.

No need to go to crooks and liars.

The only thing about Zogby that gets me, is how right on they were just smack before the 2004 election... NOT.

There's so little to have any real faith in any more, it seems, unfortunately.

I mean hell, after the 2004 election, who wants to believe them now?

What do you think the chances are that Cheney, etc. would let Bush go down for this all by himself, or that Bush, not the bravest person in the world, will resign ala Nixon? Then Cheney can pardon him before he can be impeached to "save the country all the pain and agony of watching the impeachment process, esp. during a time of war when we need to concentrate on other things" (sarcasm). These guys think Iraqi civilians, our civil rights, etc. are expendable. I wouldn't be surprised if they think "W" who is not the brightest candle in the candlabra is expendable too.

Yeah, no thanx to all the books that are being banned from our libraries, all the kids in skool who are being put on computers to learn rather than textbooks, the degradation of society...

Sorry, Ron, should've been thinking. Forgot people don't know what reading's for these days.

BTW: I vote that impeachment's not good enough.

I vote we not only impeach him, but then we hang him by his you-know-whats off the top of the empire state building, then flog him until his brains turn totally to mush, then throw him in prison where he belongs and throw away the key. That is, right along with the rest of the PNAC crowd...
