Broken Records Are Irritating

Our caller from the right today clearly illustrates so many of the key idiocies of the true believers. They are so much like dear leader. No matter how much proof, how imperative it is to update your view in the face of a changing situation, they stay stuck in the mud. It's the same discredited points over and over and over. John Kerry a traitor!0%# . Why do they hate our troops? You know the ones willing to put their lives on the line to defend our country? Since when is a person a traitor because they disagree with Presidental policy? Oops, I forgot.
I particularly love the "well Bill Clinton lied/Bill Clinton did it too/look at the terrorist bombers, how many people they are killing!" Ok, one more time. Let's try it this way. You detest Clinton and the terrorists yet you try to justify your position by saying it's OK because they did it. Aren't you setting the bar a bit low? Wouldn't you like to think that the people you admire don't reach the depths of your most despised individuals? If they are no better than that what good is your point? Answer: It's worthless and has been through the ages. Or we could have a race to the bottom if you would like.
We also found that there, by God, were WMD in Iraq. They had all this time to get rid of them and ship them out of the country. Well, the actual investigation by men picked by your dear leader himself says no such thing and as a matter of fact says it's not likely. That's the reality. If you want to make stuff up go ahead but realize you are in the world of speculation and speculation is a bad thing to base policy on.
It was Pete Domenici who put the budget in balance not Bill Clinton. HUH? Budget from President to house and senate, conference committee then back to President for approval. The treasury secretary has a lot to do with it too... Treasury secretary's' job:
The Department of the Treasury is the primary federal agency responsible for the economic and financial prosperity and security of the United States, and as such is responsible for a wide range of activities including advising the President on economic and financial issues, promoting the President’s growth agenda, and enhancing corporate governance in financial institutions.
In the international arena, the Department of the Treasury works with other federal agencies, the governments of other nations, and the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) to encourage economic growth, raise standards of living, and predict and prevent, to the extent possible, economic and financial crises.

If the Republicans are so good with budgets how come things are worse with fewer Democrats, far worse. We are further in debt and more people get a lower portion of the benefits of a profitable economy. This is sound fiscal policy?
All the excuses and slogans are very tired and their inability to adjust to new circumstances really tests my patience. Who can move these people to the reality based world?

The Lie Of The Century

There is nothing new in a government lying to its people to start a war.

Most people prefer living in peace.

Any government that wants to start a war must lie to its people, to create the illusion that supporting the war is the only possible choice they can make.

Did President Bush and his associates lie to Congress, to initiate a war of conquest in Iraq?

A leaked British memo clearly indicates a decision to go to war followed by the "fixing" of information around that policy.

This is, as they say, a smoking gun. But long before this memo surfaced, it had become obvious that the US Government, aided by that of Great Britain, was lying to create public support for a war in Iraq.

You should be more than angry. You should be in a rage.

You need to be in a rage and you need to act on that rage because the writing is on the wall; having lied to start the war in Iraq, the US Government will lie to start a war in Iran, and after that another, and after that another, and another and another and another ... because as long as you remain silent, as long as you remain inactive, the liars have no reason to stop.

None.

It is time to fire the liars.

A True US Patriot

We, the People of the United States of America, finding ourselves repeatedly misled by those charged with the care and governance of our nation, know that partisan politics have resulted in a serious breach of the public trust.

We have suffered attacks against our Constitutional rights and the founding tenets of this Democratic Republic. We have suffered the infringement of our freedoms. We have suffered insult to our honor and integrity as proud citizens.

We will no longer suffer in silence this continued assault that has now passed beyond intolerable.

We do hereby now and forever reject the bastardization of this nation's core principles through this proclamation, and define this reminder to our wayward leaders just what it takes to be a True US Patriot:

1. A True US Patriot realizes if the rights of one are violated, the rights of all are at risk, and objects to any attempt to alter the Constitution in order to specifically undermine the rights and freedoms of others, ensuring that the Constitution will never be amended to endorse discrimination of any kind.

2. A True US Patriot holds the founding principles of the Declaration of Independence to be self-evident, and defends the Constitutional rights of others even when those rights conflict with personal and religious beliefs; believing that all men are created equal, even in times of war, the basic principles of humanity apply not only to one group of people or nation, but to all.

3. A True US Patriot supports the checks and balances within the three branches of government and rejects any attempts to circumvent or undermine them.

4. A True US Patriot exercises the right to openly challenge and hold accountable at all times, even and most particularly in times of war, those who do not honor their oaths of office, who purposely mislead the nation, who abdicate responsibility when those in their employ are caught engaging in criminal and unethical activities, and who fail to serve the nation with integrity.

5. A True US Patriot recognizes the contributions of the older generation and values the potential of the next, and that in order to promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves, our elders, and our Posterity, we must ensure that the basic rights of those we hold dear to access quality healthcare and education is steadfastly supported, uncompromisingly and without discrimination based on race, color, creed, gender, or orientation.

6. A True US Patriot believes that human rights are inherent to the human condition and should not be given to non-living entities; the rights of corporations should not equal or exceed the rights of any individual, and the right to fair and equal trade as well as fair and equal pay are a vital part of those expectations.

7. A True US Patriot recalls that our citizens consist of the tired and the poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the "wretched refuse", and homeless, tempest-tossed people, and welcomes fair and balanced immigration with managed borders to ensure an open policy while maintaining and increasing security for both those who would call this land their home as well as those who already dwell within.

8. A True US Patriot respects the personal religious choices of others, refrains from imposing their own beliefs upon others, refuses to support war in the name of religion, and offers foreign humanitarian aid unconditionally without tying it to religious dogma.

9. A True US Patriot knows that due process of law and the protections against illegal search and seizure are core principles upon which our nation is founded, and the respect of an individual's right to privacy and security within their own home is critical to the preservation of our freedom.

10. A True US Patriot respects the diversity and culture of all nations, recognizing that our continued success lay not in spite of other nations but in alliance with them in a uniform approach toward promoting the global general welfare.

These ten basic tenets characterizing a True US Patriot can perhaps best be summed up in the words of Eric Zorn of the Chicago Tribune, paraphrased below:

A True US Patriot loves what his country stands for, not necessarily what his country does, and will not shrink from holding America to her ideals.*

* Eric Zorn, The Chicago Tribune, "Durbin should have stood up for his opinion", June 23, 2005.

All of the administration's reasons for invading Iraq are and have been mute. The Project for the New American Century Published their intent to invade Iraq, using Saddam as an excuse if necessary, and set up a Military-backed American Corporate Stronghold in 1997. The leaders of that org went on to become leaders in the administration. Support the currrent administration - No, support a new Democratic administration - Hopefully yes.

The DemoCat wonders if The Donkey has ever read George Orwell's "1984" one of the scariest books she has ever read because it isn't impossible that the society in that work of fiction could become a reality. It seems like it might be happening now, in fact. What "Big Brother"'s henchman has to say about war and ignorance of the masses really hits home when you think about what some of the bloggers and the callers believe. Karl Rove is the master of double speak, etc.. Talk about the "Thought Police"!
One of the recent callers said that Americans don't want to read or learn anything new. Unfortunately, that seems to be true of a lot of them. The DemoCat said that Rodney and Average Joe should read real bios of Sen. Kerry instead of the Swift Boat Veterans for Libel and Slander, but hey, they probably won't because they can't handle the TRUTH about John Kerry. They're the kind that are always going to like the flash of cheap junk jewelry (Bush, etc.) over a real gem (Kerry). They wouldn't read "1984" or "Animal Farm" either. (I don't always agree with Bob, either, but at least HE reads enough to come up with good arguments.) God save us from the Average Joes of the world who believe that these guys wouldn't be running the country if they weren't highly intelligent and honorable people who would never lie us into war and expose a trained agent and her family to danger from terrorists all for the sake of petty revenge. The DemoCat has said it before and will continue to say that she thinks Karl Rove and Tom Delay are total sleaze and beneath contempt and that Dick Cheney is pure evil.
