I guess, this is a Coffee Table-
:-) Could not resist looking to see if there was a response to the Maniacs' news. Guess not. I shouldn't speak for them, but I suspect that they will eventually rise from their ashes because they like the show as a forum for their views.
Have heard that the show has been slow. Sorry to hear it. I have been praying for its success, even tho I don't want to call anymore.

No hard feelings?

Good point Ron. People should call When They Can even if they disagree with you or dislike you, they just need to keep it civil and not attack other callers. Just think where Roswell would be (horrors!) without your program.
BTW, if they can't call, then call the station and leave a message or send a note.

2 Ron: You're welcome. Glad to hear the show is doing well and that there are new callers. Some listeners have said they were tired of hearing the same people all the time. Many probably miss The Maniacs, tho.
Re: Anonymous' comments, yes, people should call in, but, although, it is said that all listeners are welcome to call in, some people (Joe Artesia & DC) are persona non grata and it's better for them to go their separate ways. :-) Will still pray for the show's success.
The Dems/Libs need this forum, esp. here in Bu$h Country where so many are so ignorant and uninformed. Just saw a neat quotation in "The Da Vinci Code" I'll pass on.

Ron, I put just a tiny bit from your blog in my "book." I am assuming that is okay.

It has to do with the liberal media. I credit you and your blog, of course.

Dear Ron, just because we are the only Liberal Voice in Roswell and not on the verge of joining with the republicans (Like a certain radio talk show host) Your Ego must be bigger than your Shoes because your two callers a day average isn't a whole lot of new callers, nor is it a success. Either your totally republican now or your Ego can't admit its over. We don't need your show to be Americans, 1000 watts and a shameless John Dunn gets you nowhere, I have been in bigger Radios, than your entire station. We are the real voice of freedom and have been on your show for the last 2 years, just keep believeing no one cares - you are a fool. An Ego fool. The next time you hear of the Maniacs it will be on your competition.

To Ron:
It doesn't seem that you will get The Maniacs back, after all. :-( I find it hard to understand how you can not miss THEM. After all, they have been with you through thick and thin (for the most part) since the beginning. They often have good info to share and let's face it, many listeners find them entertaining. Many have probably tuned in just to hear what The Maniac will say next. Loyalty is a 2-way street and the liberals are your REAL fans not the conservatives who have their own forums which far outnumber ours.
Just a little food for thought, here-Peace!

Maniacs -- although your point is taken by this kid, it's the way you present it that's rather... not so peaceful, is the only way to put it. Pray for peace, and give (to include remarks) in the attempt for peace, if you truly want peace. If you don't want the Republican view to take over, then act not like one.

Ron -- John Dunn. Who needs say anything more? Wish I could talk with you right now. I understand your predicament, but you need to understand what's showing here, and is audibly going out to the listening audience, whatever party they belong to.

You need to be an objective voice, and cater to no viewpoint/party in particular while on the air or anywhere else. Report the news as-is, listen more than talk, allow every single person to vent and get their viewpoint out entirely, regardless of the Dunn man and what he wants, and regardless of what you want as well.

One of the reasons I'm not there any more -- freedom should be free, (people please do not take the "free" out of "freedom"!!) to say and do as one thinks they need to.

Take care as always,

D.

That was a good post, Dedanna. Yes, we shouldn't get so frustrated we begin to act like them (Hillary needs to learn this.)
My problem with JD is that while he thinks he is doing his good deed by allowing Ron to do a show that presents BOTH points of view, he frequently puts down the liberal point of view and implies that we are ignorant and don't know what we're talking about. He puts Ron down, too, but what's Ron's gonna do if he wants to keep his show? It seems to me that JD is the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. Also, he doesn't seem to want to advertise/promote the show because God forbid that the liberal viewpoint and the news the callers share would get out in this neck of the woods.
Am reading a very funny novella by Owen King (son of Stephen and Tabitha) called "We're All in This Together" that relates to this animosity between the 2 sides (the ignorant fascist pigs (them) and the well informed liberals.) No surprise to see he'd write this-his dad's a very well known liberal. :-)
Also, just finished reading "The Da Vinci Code"-probably one of the few people who hadn't read it yet. Wow! Anyone who hasn't read it yet, should. :-)

Also, Linda told me something very cute recently. She has a cat, Black Jack, who enjoys chewing on paper. She walked into her kitchen the other day and discovered that Jack had eaten a picture of a hound dog that had been sitting on the counter(and it didn't even have cayenne pepper on it.)Good Kitty. :-) Guess, it's really a CAT EAT DOG world, at least at The Maniacs' house. LOL

Sorry I have engendered so much hate from you.It certainly is not my intention. I can't please everyone, I know that. I wish you the best of luck in your future endevors. How do you know if I have new callers or not. You must be listening! Actually I have found that most shows monologue for half of the show and take callers for half. I am doing basically the same thing. I think your estimates are intentionally low. Why do you hate me? What happened to your tolerence and live and let live and to each his own. How am I suppose to believe that you live by those principals when all I see is the opposite? How can I take you seriously?

Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but your post was directed at whom?

You know I support you Ron. I'm just... well, in a predicament of my own here I guess.

Mostly because I know you & JD, from experience. I support you, but can't support any suppression that JD brings on to people. I can't support him bringing that on to you or anyone else, and I can't support him demeaning you, regardless of the viewpoints involved.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to listen to the show. I'm glad in a way though, because I can be objective here.

I far from hate you; in fact, I believe you to be a distant soul-mate in a way. I am not so far though, from believing anyone is repressing any other viewpoint than their own in this day and age, and I truly believe that it's a d.j.'s (and a station owner's) duty to report as I said in my last post, and not push any viewpoint on anyone -- let people make up their own minds. Evidence in itself is overwhelming; we don't need to do anything else. Am I making sense here?

The more we make noise, the more we're pushed away; the more we appear to be as we say we're not. Let reality speak for itself.

Sorry I have engendered so much hate from you.It certainly is not my intention. I can't please everyone, I know that. I wish you the best of luck in your future endevors. Take it from an old and very tired and retired d.j. -- kick back and let the assholes do as they will. Do as you will do, and do it with peace in mind.

Wisdom. Y'can't beat it. LOL.

Well then I'd have to say that Ron's doing something right. Did I not say earlier that there would be a resurrection? There it was LOL. The reason I say Ron must be doing something right, is even the self-professed non-come-backers keep coming back LOL.

Let's see, I think I've counted now, some... what, 5 or 6 times they've said "we're not coming back" and "you're so bad" and then they always come back and post.

Man, I gotta laugh -- sorry.

Maniacs, please make up your minds. Thanks. I have no beef with you; to an extent (in a way) I even agree (having been there) with you, but you're like yo-yos. Back and forth, back and forth.

Please, let's not take the GWB route again, ok?

For anyone interested it now appears that John Dunn is attempting to pre-empt Roswell Says
Today, he said that "Bob" should be on for an hour as a guest and then about 20 minutes before the end of the program says he has a guest he wants Ron to interview without any word ahead of time. Can't These People Call In Like All of the Other Listeners?! Is it only People With John's Viewpoint that get Invited As Guests? So "Larry" has been to Israel and has John's Viewpoint. What's his background? Was he there Vacationing or some type of "Business"? How was this Person brought to John's attention? Will this person be "respectful" to Ron and other listeners/callers as John told Ron "you had better be" to him. The program has been shining more light on, if not local politics, then the prevailing Roswell ideology and way of doing things. The local powers-that-be have received a well deserved political and media black-eye for the flyover fiasco despite local attempts to ignore it, deny it and attack the messangers. Now, they are finally offering somewhat grudgingly admissions of wrong-doing. Despite whatever happens to Ron's program, "Boss" John's stations, King KBIM or the Daily Record, there is still Air America on the Internet, XM Satellite Radio and stations in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Silver City, and the Albuquerque Journal and Tribune, the Santa Fe New Mexican and 4 statewide network news outlets. New Mexico also has many Progressive NGOs in most of the rest of the State, so New Mexicans who happen to reside in Roswell/S.E. NM can still find and speak the Truth.

Well, I gotta agree with a lot of what Dedanna says, even tho The Maniacs are 2 of my best friends. I think they would like to feel appreciated, needed, and missed. Unlike DC, whose only fans are friends she can talk to any time, The Maniacs will be missed. It's not like the host couldn't email them and tell them he misses talking to them ('Course that would almost be like answering FAN MAIL- will he hire a secretary when he becomes a famous DJ? :-))
By now, he should realize that they are very sensitive and easily offended, esp. when it comes to most of what JD says.
Speaking of that, Gah! Tuned into the show today and heard the "laryngitic bullfrog" going on and on, and couldn't wait for Chris to come on and do the news so JD could go back to his office and do whatever he does. Then when Ron was really sticking it to the GOP toward the end of the show (loved it-this is when Ron seems most loyal to us), JD comes back on blathering about something else. If JD wants to help the show succeed he should STAY OFF OF IT.
I vote we ban the boss from the show. Any seconds? LOL
Happy Valentine's Day, Dedanna!
(I won't wish the same to The Game, as would-be Vulcans don't celebrate this holiday. ;-) )

Y'ain't a-gonna get that w/JD. Period. Y'ain't gonna get that w/his right-hand man, either. :p LOL.

I'm sure if Ron had his way you'd get it, though.

Happy Valentine's Day to you and all --

Thanks, Dedanna. By logical people, you must mean our very pragmatic DJ, too. :-)
(Must've made Ron sick to have to play all those overly emotional romantic songs (esp. by Manilow or The Monkees) yesterday.) LOL)
My Valentine's Day was OK, other than having to listen to the undulcet tones of The LBF interupting the show. Had lunch with my valentine, then spent the afternoon surrounded by roses-literally- as was helping a friend who is running for city council dethorn and attach cards to roses to pass out to voters which we did last nite. So far so good, and amazingly enough getting multiple thorn pricks hasn't turned me off of my favorite flower at all. :-) Anyway, getting involved in the local political process is not a bad way to spend Valentine's Day.
Saw the headline that Cheney is taking full responsibility for shooting that guy in TX. Gosh, wish he'd take some responsibility for what he and his henchmen have done to our country!
The Maniacs said to say that they do not HATE Ron, but have lost respect for him because he will not stand up to The LBF. Also, they have taken Real America off all their pages (desk tops?). Also, the 3 of us have our sources who do listen to the show regularly (and of course, we all talk about the show more than Ron has ever imangined-I know, we all need to get lives-ha!) Speaking of the show, Ron, when will
Del Jurney be on the show? I am probably going to cross party lines on the mayoral race, tho I said I wouldn't (sigh).
Peace, y'all!

Well, y'know, the Maniacs are 2 of my best friends, so it's not about being politically correct. I tend to be a little overemotional myself, so I can't criticize them. I think that some listeners will miss them, but the boss and many of the conservative listeners won't. Ron doesn't seem to be overly concerned or he'd call or email them.
For all that Ron calls his fans his friends, it seems that is really all a lot of talk. He told me once that I need to learn the difference between show business and reality. Reality is that he is an actor/radio host and we are his listeners/callers/fans not his real friends. We're really just a means to an end which is the success of his show. If our feelings are hurt and we stop calling the show, Ron can take it. (He said so, himself.
:-) ) If some of us can't take it, what's it to YOU?
I admire Ron's intelligence, talent, etc. and his determination to speak the truth in this hateful and ignorant political climate. I pray for his/the show's success. We need this local forum desperately. He says the show is doing well and he has a lot of new callers. The show will go on, as they say.
(Also, I have done a lot to get other people to call, circulated a petition to get the show put back on the air, and advertised it during protests, so I guess it is something to me. :-) )

Well, y'know, Maniac is angry and as a disabled Vietnam vet who has not been treated well by the country he volunteered to serve, he has a right to be. I believe in working thru the system, but this system has become so flawed what with all the election fraud, the corporations/lobbyists controlling BOTH the government and the press, Bu$h(Cheney) trying to take all the power, etc. that it almost seems we need to have a revolution. What Maniac does so well is to express the anger and dissatisfaction of those who can't or are afraid to express it themselves. Besides, it is frequently fun to listen to him because he is so outrageous. :-)
Not to mention that The Anal Cyst Guy (Ron's name for R.L.) and his compadres won't let liberals talk on their shows.

So.........

???????????

Send me somewhere, somebody! I need something to listen to!!!

Can I come back, Ron? Just to give JD & JR (the Republican majority rules team) a very very hard time? lol.
