Keeping America Strong

Here is a little food for thought on the state of the America.
Let's talk about it. I am a registered Democrat so I can vote in the primary and have some influence but I am actually a Liberal Populist(populist here: http://www.davidsirota.com/) with a tad of Libertarian thrown in. As a populist I believe the people should run the country and the individual citizens should benefit by the treasury and actions of the government before anyone else. I oppose the power of the giant corporations over the people and believe that small business should be advantaged over them if we are to build a sustained and vital country. Short story, I'm for the little guy. It worked that way for many years and only badly goes askew when the "robber barons" get the power. Let me tell you what I see from my planet.:-)
Domestically, cuz we've done the foreign thing to death. The corporations run this country. Many legislators have admitted that the lobbists(moneyed interests) now even write the bills! They love it when we have more workers than jobs. That way(supply and demand) they don't have to pay much. Jobs going overseas and more people coming into this country to work all works right into their plan to make us wage slaves.
Health care is a giant issue. We can't have lazzie faire health care where the unable to afford it die and the wealthy live. I know many likely consider one payer health care "socialism". So be it. It is bankrupting companies and individuals alike. Over 50% of personal bankruptcies are from health care issues. People that can't afford to pay go to the emergency room and those with insurance end up paying for it with higher premiums. Wouldn't it make more sense if everyone paid in at least something? But taxes, taxes, taxes! Consider your monthly premium as a "tax" and tell me how much you are paying right now. We have the most expensive health care in the world and without the best results.
Alternative energy should be our #1 national priority. Mostly because it will help us avoid a war over oil and being at the will of others for energy which will no doubt become an increasing drain on our economy. Some other reasons include profitability of patents for Americans instead of other countries. New good paying jobs in new technologies, an improvement for our environment and an issue that can UNITE Americans instead of divide us. These are the BIG issues for America that are being ignored by the peoples representatives on both sides.
Little is made in America anymore. Look at where the goods you buy in the store come from. We are not energy independent. We are dependent on other countries for nearly everything. If China shut us out Walmart is out of business! Not good for the "lead" country in the world. While the moneyed interests pull the wool over our eyes we slip further into the abyss. Time to get up, get loud and get proud America. Let's do something positive for once!

Greetings Ron;

The Donkey had no time last week, to post, due a family accident.

The Donkey wants to stop the traitors in the White House. The Donkey has no friends that betrayed this country and would not tolerate any ones that did.

The Donkey is always amused by people that say we must go to war but really mean the the Donkey must go fight because they have better things to do.

It is much safer behind a keyboard than in Iraq. The Donkey never wanted this war.

The Donkey does not care if people are upset their president is a liar. It is not the Donkey's President. The Donkey hopes Bush will be impeached. Bush is a liar. If one wants to support a liar, expect to be called a fool.

Traitors still work in the White House while being paid by my taxes. Why is Bush soft on traitors?

Hey Ron,
This post is WAY to long for my ADD...but let me try since I like what you wrote...

On corporations...I know there are some that are bad...but I believe many are good and are needed since they provide most of the jobs in this country...But it is true, the corporate world is a bitch..its rough...maybe that is why I am not in it...

Health care is the number one domestic issue right now...it is simply out of control...I don't think I can agree with you to go all the way to a socialized health care plan...but I really don't have a clue how to fix this thing...since you are in the southwest, I'm sure you can not argue that illegal immigration is jacking up the cost of health care...you might say "then give them health care"...but the whole illegal immigrant issue is much to massive to cover right now...let me remind you that I have blogs on it on my site if you ever wished to comment..and since you are an intelligent liberal/libertarian/populist...it would be great if you did...

We need to get alternative sources of energy...but since we don't yet, we need to do what it takes to stop being dependent right now...the fact that we can not refine our own oil and can't really drill for oil in this country is completely insane...you might say that it is insane we still have to use oil...and you might be right...but facts are fact, we need oil for now...being at the mercy of the middle east for this issue can cripple us...do you like paying $3 a gallon?

That is all for now...

Game, the only problem I have with Large corporations is when they have more power than the American people. I believe I have seen statistics and heard R and D politicians alike say that SMALL business is responsible for most of the jobs and the engine of our economy.

"since you are in the southwest, I'm sure you can not argue that illegal immigration is jacking up the cost of health care."

I think you ment the opposite? I think we would fall close to agreement on the illegal immigrant issue.I got a problem with it and the money it's costing and giving illegals drivers licenses etc...many here disagree with me though.

..we could have alternative energy if someone had the balls to make it a national priority..we need to get off the dime is my point. We aren't working fast enough or with enough of a sense of emergency.

Glad to see you didn't just start bashing bush about the energy bill thing...NO ONE is doing a think about alternate sources of energy...right and left...I think that will change in the next few years.

Actually game our NM senators, Domenici(R) and Bingaman(D) headed up the writing of the energy bill. I'm not to happy with them. Senator Bingaman is going to be on my show for a short time tommorrow and I asked the listeners for questions. Some called and some stopped by with things they want me to ask him. It seems these darned liberals are pretty mad at one of their own.Not specifically on the energy bill but on a range of issues. That's the difference between our side and yours. When our side blows it we are ready to call them on it instead of saying my side right or wrong. I doubt I will have time to get to far with him in the short time he is here. I do at least give him credit for coming. He has been here twice in a year. I have yet to see our other senator even once since I started working here over 4 years ago.
