The Right Christians

You know, if the Christian movement was more like this I could feel comfortable and happy with them. Right now frankly they are scaring the hell out of me. Which, by the way, what's the deal with turning the filibuster debate into a religious issue. The clear inference here is if you are against ending the filibuster you are anti-god. That these nominees are going down because of their "faith". Which particular "faith" is being discriminated against. What is the "faith" of those voting pro or con. I would bet you have many different ones on both sides. As it should be, but won't be for long if the American Taliban gets to determine whether your "faith" is the right kind or not. Will these people stop at nothing!? And where did we go wrong in this country that so many sheeple and freepers fall for this idiocy. Just say its the liberal media or liberal bias, that's good enough. A mind to narrow to measure.

I can't argue with that. Fundamentalism in religion is the same regardless of what that religion is. We don't want a theocracy here in the U.S. either.
Between the extremism of the atheists who want to outlaw any mention of religion in public schools, etc. and that of the Christian fundamentalists who want to dictate how everyone will live their lives, we should be able to see why our forefathers provided for separation of Church and State.
I'm sick of the former. No one is telling them they have to believe, but they are in the minority. Most people believe in some kind of higher power regardless of the name they give him/her. The atheists are the only ones complaining about creches in public places.
The fundamentalists scare me what with their belief in "the rapture" which is not even something that's a part of Revelations and their apparent determination to cause Armagedon. Not to mention that I don't want them telling me that displaying my Virgin Mary statues is idol worship, or burning my kid's Harry Potter books. There's no way these people should be in charge of the country. All they can talk about is repealing Rowe v. Wade and how homosexuality is a sin. That's not the sum total of Christian values.
The thing with the filibuster issue just shows how hypocritical they are. The GOP filibusters, too. Sometimes it's the only way to defeat a bad bill. If our representatives would work for us, the people, instead of corporations, etc. and would cut out the pork we might not need filibusters. And then to use religion to force their extremist judicial picks by calling people who disagree evil and godless, akin to Osama Bin Laden and Nazis just shows how off the wall these people are. Anyone who voted for Bush who didn't benefit financially must be totally brainwashed!
