He Hates America(Americans)

The right has been going on for a long time about how the evil music, video games, movies et al is influencing our society in a harmful way. How much do you want to bet they have all kinds of obfuscations for their right wing talkers and book writers?

Adkisson targeted the church, Still wrote in the document obtained by WBIR-TV, Channel 10, "because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of media outlets."....
Inside the house, officers found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly.

He even mouths the words verbatim just like a loyal right wing sheeple. This is what happens when our political discussion turns from issues to personality and character assassination.

Thanks for posting this. When Evangelicals like Robertson, Dobson, Hagee and their ilk, preach from the pulpit that liberals are to blame for everything from Katrina, to 9/11, to California wildfires, this has to be expected. Add to that the constant drumming from the killers favorite authors on their radio shows about liberals being the enemy, and it just stands to reason that someone is going to start killing liberals in the name of Jesus (R-NZ). The solution though, is simple now that we have FISA to protect us. Given that we have ample evidence of the terrorist threat that exists from the right, we need to put everyone who subscribes to the Limbaugh Letter, or donates to the 700 club, Focus on the Family, or Operation Rescue on the terrorist watch list. Their e-mails and phone activity need to be closely monitored so that we can stop them before they kill any more innocent people as they worship in their church. That is why we changed FISA a couple of weeks ago isn't it? To protect us from terroists? Well....let's get to it!

Speaking of people who hate America, check out the story on REPUBLICAN Senator Ted Stevens. I know they say innocent til proven guilty, but I wouldn't be surprised and how many gifts from oil companies has he taken to support drilling in ANWR. I'd hope a polar bear would get him, but they're too busy now trying not to drown and starving to try-right?

Also, don't y'all think that Dana Perino is just a little Stepford Press Secretary? She's almost as revolting as The Coultergeist.
I doubt Perino's smart enough to write a book like Scott McClellan did

Tim,
Re: killing Liberals in the name of Jesus. Jesus was/is a Liberal. You know one of those long haired guys running around in sandals talking about love and peace-the original flower child. :-) Seriously, He came to give us a message of love, peace, charity for the POOR, tolorance (something alien to ALL fundamentalist religions), and forgiveness. For this, He was crucified by the conservatives of His time. Unfortunately, far too many church going people have been brainwashed into thinking Jesus is/was all about gay marriage, abortion, and other social values issues. They can't see past the noses on their own faces, apparently. I wish James Dobson would stick to writing books about disciplining strong willed children and give some of them to Daddy Bush while he is at it.

Hey, did y'all see that Congress has cited Rove for contempt? Too little too late, but what can you do when his whole rotten Party protects Cheney, etc. no matter what they do? As far as I'm concerned the whole bunch need to be tried and convicted for everything from treason (for Plame, etc.) to war crimes (Abu Ghraib, etc.) and then thrown into the deepest darkest holes we can find to rot for the rest of their unnatural lives.

But, turns out that Democrats have been pretty rotten, too. Not only did Cuomo (NY Gov) and Koch (NYC) refuse to give more than a pittance for AIDS research, services, etc. during their terms, but Dukokis neglected to earmark any money for AIDS while he was Governor of Mass. and I voted for him and cried when he lost. Now, I am sorry I cried, but I sure wouldn't have voted for Papa Bush and wouldn't if I had it to do all over again.
If you haven't read Randy Stilts' book "And the Band Played On" yet, do so. It is probably the best book on the history of our lack of response to the epidemic out there.

Tim, It was certain something like this would happen eventually. They have nothing to do but condemn others and blame somebody else for all their problems. Those personal responsiblility people you know. The idea that radical righters are about personal responsibility is as blatantly unrealistic as is the media is liberal. They will insist all day but the more they insist the more it shows they are not able to view an unbiased reality.

Ron, good points. Worse than the direct perpetrators themselves are the actions of those who deny the reality of the situation and make excuses for the hatemongers who feed them. "Liberal" has become a popular derogatory term for standing for what is right. Those of lesser socio-economic standing in a dominant group are useful cannon foder in the direct attacks on the "other". eliminationism feeds on itself so that what goes around comes around.

How many of the people who talk about personal responsibility are like "John McSame" who left his first wife for one of the heirs to the Anheiser Busch fortune and yet expects the American tax payers to pay for his health care. Not to mention that we are, also, paying for the health care that is helping to keep "the evil one" (AKA Dick Cheney) who is worth at least $50 mil. alive while he is destroying our country.
I saw another one of McCain's attack ads last night. Just when I think he can't sink any lower he surprises me by doing just that. These folks are the elite, not the Obamas. Why do the middle class and working class people believe all this garbage when Cheney, etc. only claim to be concerned about the latter's taxes being raised? It's Rush Limbaugh who makes $25 mil. a year making fun of disabled children in favor of
S-CHIP funding increases, the corporations like EXXON Mobile that made $12 Bil. in profits in its last quarter, and the rest of that crowd who want to avoid paying any taxes while the middle class is crushed. If they are going to talk about personal responsibility they should pay their taxes and pay for their own health care if they can afford to. Sickening!
Speaking of sickening I got an email from Defenders of Wildlife to the effect that state game officers illegally staked out a wolf denning area in Alaska and shot 14 cubs after killing their mother/s. This is supposedly to protect the caribou herds. Yeah, but probably not for the indigenous people in Alaska who eat caribou and instead for the selfish rich hunters who go up there to hunt everything from caribou to wolves to polar bears. Besides that, wolves hunt sick, disabled, and old caribou instead of the best and healthiest males. They improve the caribou herds and anyway they have a right to live- more so than many humans. That would include Ted Stevens of Alaska who probably won't be punished anymore than anyone in Cheney's/Bush's whole gang of unpatriotic war criminals.

Did you hear the latest idiocy from Rupert Murdoch? The one where Obama is too skinny to be President? Where do they come up with these things?
Also, that Wal-Mart is conducting meetings and telling employees that (due to unionization) Obama will be bad for business and suggesting that to protect their jobs they should vote for McCain and other Republicans?
Re: conservative reactionaries and pop culture-I have to agree that some lyrics in music, particuarly rap and heavy metal are bad. I wouldn't choose to listen to this and thank God my kids have good taste and don't either. Let's get real here...kids just about have to rebel against their parents some way as part of the growing up process and their music, movies, clothing, hair length, etc. are all part of that.
I'm one of those terrible liberals the conservatives despise, but 2 of my favorite recent movies are "Enchanted" and "August Rush", although I thought "Knocked Up" was hysterically funny (wouldn't watch it with my teenaged son, though). I hate reality shows which I think are geared to intellecutally lazy people. I prefer Oldies, but like a variety of music. One of my new favorites is Sara Bareilles. Someone please tell me in what way her "Love Song" is subversive! To be sure, "Morningside" gives me the shivers, but in a good way. :-) These conservative jerks just want everyone to be cookie cutter conformists and then they dare to talk about freedom.

Obama is too skinny, McCain wears expensive shoes. Paris and Brittany for God sakes! Typical US election. I'm voting for Barrack but not excitedly. He has really disappointed me in the last couple of months with his FISA vote and oil drilling spinelessness etc. Far, far better than the alternative though. The campaigns in this country are embarrassingly stupid and add nothing to the national dialogue. That's why you won't see much of it on this blog. It's meaningless, I prefer to, as much as possible to stick to real issues.

Miss D?

Blame Obama's compromises on the stupidity of many Americans, the corporate media that doesn't inform those who aren't stupid, and the selfishness of the voters who will vote for whoever will help them fill the tanks of their Hummers and pickups for as little as possible. And if someone is spineless it's McCain who has flipflopped so hard to the right that he's created a hole he will never be able to climb out of! And all because the rightwing idjits were looking so hard at a candidate who couldn't utter a sentence that didn't contain a noun, a verb, and 9/11 not to mention Romney who was supposedly too liberal for them before this election and their darling, ultra conservative minister, Mike Hickabee. If McCain really had the guts to stand up to the Viet Cong (unlike many of the biggest warhawks out there) he should have the guts to tell Cheney where to go. I have lost all respect for him.

"I'm voting for Barack, but not excitedly."

At least, you are voting for him. He wasn't my first choice, but I would vote for almost anyone over 4more years of Bush. I'm not thrilled with some of his compromise positions, but he didn't promise to offshore drill for oil and it is possible that if we can elect enough Democrats we can impeach/try for war crimes/treason later. That's not going to happen if John McCain gets elected.
What ticks me off is all the sore losers among the Clinton supporters, especially those who say they'll vote for McCain instead. I get some awfully rude responses while phone banking for Obama. A lot of Anti-Obama Democrats are probably like those folks in West VA, too. I had an uncle who came from that state-first time in my life I ever heard the "N" word used. If he was an example of what West Virginians are like, it is a pretty racist state.
Then there are the ones who want to waste their votes on Nader who has no chance. I know a couple like that, but I should have known they wouldn't vote for Obama cuz they are big Imus fans and much as he hates Bush he's voting for McCain. They now say they hate Democrats almost as much as they hate Republicans, so we're not on speaking terms anymore. Especially, cuz I said that I thought that some of their views were extreme(i.e.radical!!!).
Anyway, give Obama more of a chance. He's smart, educated, and a decent person and I think we can trust him to choose good advisors (NOT Dick Cheney or Karl Rove) and take their advice.
